Workshop on Children’s Rights “Kikasete Journey” – Planning & Design

Children’s rights are fundamental to every child’s life. Yet, widely used educational materials like the “Children’s Rights Notebook” have primarily been distributed to children in social care settings. To address this gap, Masahiro Takita was commissioned by the NPO Children’s Advocacy Center Fukuoka to develop a new educational kit that would be more accessible and engaging in school and community settings. Following research, Takita again collaborated with UMA/design farm to design the workshop kit.

“Kikasete Journey” is a flexible learning tool that helps children experience and understand their rights—particularly the right to express their views—through participatory activities that involve “sharing their voices and listening to others.” The kit includes three types of workshop modules that can be adapted to suit the needs of schools and local communities.
