In a project with Sanko Corporation, a general printing company, we designed and developed “notebooks for students’ study,” in which students design the notebooks they really want. 3 notebook products developed in 2016 in a student-participatory joint research project with the company were sold at major general merchandise stores in Kyushu. The product was extremely well received, with more than 28,000 copies sold over a two-year period, mainly at about 40 stores, and a second project was undertaken in 2019 to develop a new series. As a result, three new notebooks were commercialized and have been sold at numerous major mass merchandisers mainly in Kyushu since March 2020. These products received the Good Design Award for 2017 and 2020.
