Observation is important in the design conception stage to gain a deep understanding of users, but in the design of public objects such as public transportation vehicles, it is not easy to make observations because it is necessary to assume a variety of beneficiaries (users). In addition, the public nature that beneficiaries perceive in public objects is not uniform, which makes observation difficult. Therefore, I will study the concept of sharable publicness in public object design and observation methods for beneficiaries to complement the public object design process.

Is it possible to intentionally create valuable “innovation?” If there were a formula, the term would not be so appealing. In addition, designers are sometimes thought of as wizards who can make things happen intentionally, but that is not the case. However, many designers have the will to innovate and become involved. As such, outstanding designers accumulate diverse knowledge on a daily basis and look for opportunities to innovate by listening to the opinions of numerous people. In this process, they deepen their understanding of people and society, including themselves, and develop a strong motivation. The SD Course is expected to foster talent who are able to motivate themselves and go through trial and error to implement their vision. I believe the SD Course possesses the strategies to achieve this.
